Mouka has equipped its world-class laboratory with two additional machines.

These machines were installed in a purpose-built facility within its headquarters in Lagos to give the mattress maker an extra edge over other players.

Mouka’s Manufacturing Operations Manager, David Onyemata, said, “At Mouka, quality is our watchword. We are constantly evaluating global research and development (R&D) best practices in mattress processing and manufacturing. Not only do we pay attention to every intricate detail when manufacturing our products, but we also subject them to extensive testing protocols to ensure that we are truly offering our consumers the very best sleep products. This led to modernizing our laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment.

Quality Assurance, R&D and Process Improvement Manager, Chimezie Nwosuagwu, highlighted the unique features of this technology, as well as the benefits for consumers. “With these machines, we can perform a holistic assessment of mattress performance on mattresses. Previously, most quality testing was limited to lab foam sample sizes and not full-size mattresses.

“We can now perform a mattress durability test, which shows us the resistance of the mattress to flexing and the impact of deformation from human weight and movement on the properties of the mattress during long-term use. We can also perform mattress hardness and firmness value test, which indicates the load bearing capacity of the mattress, i.e. how much body weight can this mattress support during long-term use without affecting its We can even perform a fatigue/height loss test with these machines to predict loss of load capacity and change in mattress height due to repeated loading.

In his address, the Managing Director, Mr. Femi Fapohunda also shared his views on this substantial investment by the company. “During my last press interview, I mentioned that Mouka was heading for even greater heights due to the strategic change of ownership in Dolidol, the market leader in the West African sleep industry. I had said that Dolidol had brought on board technological expertise that would be obvious to everyone.

He also said that a few months ago, Mouka launched the first Nigerian pillow made with patented biocrystal technology called Mouka Bio-Pillow. Today, the company is unveiling this major upgrade to its R&D facilities.

According to Fapohunda, this is another step taken by Mouka to ensure that consumer needs and preferences are taken into account in our product portfolio.

The MD also claimed that Mouka would not rest on his oars; instead, it will continue to invest in technology to ensure its products are world-class and in a class of their own.

According to research, Mouka remains number one in the sleep industry, adding comfort to the lives of millions of Nigerians for over 60 years. Its ability to maintain this leadership position would result from its unparalleled quality and the remarkable craftsmanship it employs in manufacturing its wide range of products.
