**Gaming Companies Plan Major Boost to Responsible Gaming Efforts This Fall** MGM Resorts International and BetMGM have committed a $320,000 donation to support responsible gaming initiatives, in time for the American Gaming Association’s (AGA) Responsible Gaming Education Month (RGEM) in September. The funds are part of a broader push by major gaming companies to elevate public awareness and prevention efforts. Las Vegas-based casino operator MGM Resorts and its digital sports betting unit BetMGM said on Thursday the $320,000 pledge will benefit three core areas of research and support: First, a significant portion is allocated for research grants administered by the International Center for Responsible Gaming. This marks an escalation in MGM Resorts’ recent trend of contributing to responsible gaming research, reinforcing its public commitment to the cause. The pledged contribution comes amid a season of expanded corporate philanthropy in the gaming sector. Sands China surpassed MGM Resorts last year with an annual donation of MOP 1 million ($125,000), according to figures published by the operator in a March press release. Sands China said it has given more than MOP 8.9 million to Macau nonprofits since 2006 to advance similar causes, with last year’s MOP 1 million donation alone benefiting five local NGOs in the city. Such giving is accelerating at a time when gaming regulators worldwide are putting more emphasis on companies’ overall impact, gambling harm reduction strategies, and problem gambling assessment. MGM Resorts' announcement this week is the latest move to visibly elevate its own efforts in this space, building on progress from recent years in areas including: * Training initiatives for employees. The company has certified more than 3,000 staff globally as GameSense Advisors, a program designed to identify early signs of problem gambling behavior. * On-premise messaging at resorts and casinos. During September, gaming patrons in Las Vegas will see extensive responsible gaming messaging on casino displays, digital boards and throughout MGM Grand properties. "Play Smart" is among the key campaigns. * In-stadium advertising across US sports. The initiative will extend to select venues during NFL and MLB seasons, with responsible gaming ads and GameSense messaging. Expansion plans include Las Vegas's NHL and WNBA franchises as well.
